išskirtinumas statusas T sritis Politika apibrėžtis Politinė doktrina, skelbianti, kad JAV – unikali ir išskirtinė valstybė; pasak jos, Amerika, skirtingai nuo kitų šalių, neturi specifinių nacionalinių interesų, tik siekį, kad demokratija ir laisvė įsigalėtų visame pasaulyje. Išskirtinumo teoretikai sako, kad Amerika – ne tik vieta ar teritoriškai apibrėžta valstybė, bet ir savotiškas idealas, mitinis socialinis organizmas, kurio pagrindinė savybė yra laisvė ir demokratija. Iš kitų šalių kilę žmonės gali sakyti, kad jų tėvynė yra Prancūzija, Rusija, Lietuva, Lenkija ar kt., amerikiečiai tegali sakyti, kad „mano tėvynė yra laisvė“. Doktrinos atsiradimą lėmė tai, kad JAV valstybė susiformavo iš imigrantų, atvykusių į šalį, kurioje iki tol nebuvo jokių nacionalinių tradicijų. Tai, kad vietiniai indėnai buvo nukariauti ir asimiliuoti, paprastai nepabrėžiama arba nutylima. Doktrina turi tam tikrą poveikį ir JAV užsienio politikai. Amerikos išskirtinumas nėra vienintelė ir visiems JAV priimtina užsienio politikos doktrina.
